October 4 is a special day for our furry friends. Whether you have a dog, cat, rabbit or another loyal companion, today they deserve a little extra attention. Because let’s be honest, they’ve earned it.
An extra-long walk, their favourite treat, some playtime or simply a little more cuddling on the sofa. You don’t have to make things complicated to turn World Animal Day into a special day. In the end, our pets are often happiest with something very simple: spending time with their favourite person.
At Poelman, we’re celebrating World Animal Day in our own way. For one day, our four-legged friends took over the studio and got to decide which shoes deserved the spotlight. From cosy loafers and playful details to boots made for long walks. Posing wasn’t always easy though... and some of the shoes may have been a little too tempting.
The result? A World Animal Day shoot filled with shoes, wagging tails and plenty of personality.

COSY ON THE GO
Whether it’s a quick walk around the neighbourhood or a long stroll through the park, getting outside together is always a good idea. And when we’re out and about, we naturally want to be as comfortable as possible.

Some just know how to steal the spotlight. Sunglasses on, scarf wrapped and ready to be seen – this four-legged fashionista clearly understood the World Animal Day assignment.
And actually, we could learn a thing or two from that. Wear what makes you feel good, add something that’s a little different and, most importantly, make the look your own. Whether it’s your favourite shoes, a statement accessory or – in this case – a seriously fashionable pair of sunglasses, the best style is the one that feels like you.
On October 4, we’re putting our pets in the spotlight, but this fashionista clearly found it all by herself.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT 🐾
Posing for the camera went pretty well, but staying away from the shoes turned out to be a little more difficult. Look away for one second and suddenly this loafer was being carried off. Apparently, it was just a little too tempting.
During our World Animal Day shoot, we quickly discovered that you can’t plan everything when dogs are involved. One sat perfectly still, another just wanted to play, and sometimes a shoe suddenly became the perfect new toy. But those unexpected moments are exactly what made the shoot so much fun.
And honestly, it’s hard to be mad at such an enthusiastic model. We eventually got the shoe back safely, and of course, we couldn’t keep this photo from you.
